Maintaining Balance in My Life

Although the past 14 months have challenged me in so many different ways, they have also been liberating in that they have given me back the balance that was once in my life but gradually disappeared without me noticing.

Pre-pandemic, life, more times than not, felt like a never-ending race—one that kept me away from my house at almost all waking hours.

In order to experience having a home again instead of just a place to sleep, at the end of last year, after having lived in Los Gatos for 12 years, I decided to move to the outskirts of the Bay Area, to an area with a slower pace of life and more room to breathe.

The move has been healing; it has provided my family and me with the balance we were in search of, and the people we have crossed paths with here have been a continuous reminder to us of the importance of maintaining balance in one’s life.

So, as the Bay Area begins to reemerge from a place of rest, I have been making a conscious effort not to slip back into an over-scheduled life and a place of imbalance.
